We developed the yacht charter business at Saracen when our school clients asked us if they could charter the yachts they had been training on when they had completed their Day Skipper training. We thought that this was a good idea and gave people the opportunity to go sailing on their own for the first time on a boat they were familiar with and in a familiar sailing area. This has developed over the years and we now have 5 boats on the fleet available for both tuition and charter. All of our yachts, however, are privately owned and their owners spend their own holidays on their yachts. It is also important to note that we are not yacht charter agents and that the fleet is personally managed by Saracen. Accordingly, you will find that the yachts are extremely well cared for and not excessively used; ensuring high levels of reliability and comfort. This also affords us a greater degree of flexibility with our booking schedule and, unlike most charter companies; you can commence your charter on any day you wish. Our base in the North East of the island is the perfect location from which to start your cruise. The two very large bays of Alcudia and Pollensa provide protected waters with plenty of line of sight sailing, beautiful anchorages and a variety of harbours. If a more natural holiday is your goal, you will find that the anchorages tend to be empty at night and there is no 3 o’clock rush for a spot that you find in some cruising grounds. The water here is very clear and you will find anchoring relatively easy as you can see the bottom! Alternatively, the marinas all have excellent facilities which are exceptionally clean and there is plenty of nightlife and many restaurants offering Mallorcan specialities and wine at very reasonable prices. If you wish to venture further afield there is more than 200 miles of stunning coastline around Mallorca to explore. Well worth a visit is the peaceful island group of Cabrera which is host to many different species of birds and is the largest marine National Park in Spain (please ask us about permits). You will find that the coastline of Mallorca is very scenic with abrupt cliffs combined with empty white sandy beaches and don’t forget to watch out for our resident dolphins around Cala Ratjada and off the point at Formentor. For the more adventurous, Menorca is an easy day’s sail away. |

In order to charter a boat without a skipper you will already have some skippering experience and have another competent crew member along with you. If you are not familiar with the waters here we would ask for a higher level of experience or that one of our skippers joins you for your first couple of days so that they can show you around. You should have at least an International Certificate of Competence. If you are not already qualified to this level and would like to be, please ask us about how we can help you with your training. Alternatively, why not relax while someone else takes the helm and charter with one of our skippers for £120 per day or take a look at our special skippered charter package. |
